Iran, Malaysia stress boosting academic coop.

TEHRAN, Nov. 06 (MNA) – Iranian Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Technology for International Affairs Hossein Salar-Amoli and Zakari bin Zakaria, a senior official from Malaysia’s Ministry of Education met on Monday and discussed ways of expanding educational and academic interactions between the two countries.

During the meeting held at Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in Tehran , the officials stressed the need to strengthen scientific cooperation between the two countries and the expansion of scientific and cultural interactions.

Pointing to the longstanding cultural, religious and academic ties between the two nations, Salar-Amoli expressed the Iranian ministry’s readiness to organize meetings with Malaysia’s Education Minister and academic chiefs of the East Asian country.

According to him, the future meetings will revolve around devising cooperation plans in a wide gamut of fields, including the exchange of professors and students, providing research opportunities and mutual collaborations, exchanging educational funds, and establishing academic branches in Malaysia.

The two countries have had longstanding relations in the field of technology and education.

Iranian Institute of Materials and Energy and the University of Technology, Malaysia (UTM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in late Oct. to implement a joint research project on finding the root causes behind air pollution in the capitals of the two countries as well as finding the ways to control it.
